Pure Lactose Powder - Food Grade Information

Food Grade Lactose Powder is applied in many different applications in the pharmaceutical, food, infant food and veterinary industries. Lactose is a carbohydrate and as such a disaccharide. Food Grade Lactose Powder makes up around 2-8% of milk (by weight), although the amount varies among species and individuals.

Refined Lactose is a sugar that is found most notably in milk and is not found naturally in any other food aside from dairy products.Powdered Lactose has a relatively high solubility in water. Solubility is 18.9g per 100g solution at 25°C and 37.2g per 100g solution at 60°C.

Food Grade Powdered Lactose intolerance is caused by the inability of the body to break down milk sugars. In a normal person, lactase, an enzyme produced by the small intestine, breaks down lactose so it can be absorbed into the bloodstream. People who are lactose intolerant cannot produce enough lactase and are unable to process lactose.
